Iconic Sunrise
To see the sunrise on Bromo, you can choose several favorite spots, including Penanjakan 1 (the highest point), Kingkong Hill, Love Hill, or Mentigen Hill. The sun usually rises around 04.30 - 05.30 WIB.
The following are recommendations for the best spots that you can choose:
Climbing 1: The highest and most popular spot. Offers a 180 degree panorama of Mount Bromo, Batok, Semeru and the sea of clouds.
Kingkong Hill & Love Hill: Alternative spots that are quieter but still provide stunning views of the Bromo landscape.
Seruni Point (Penanjakan 2): Spot in Ngadisari Village that offers spectacular views without having to climb to the highest peak.
Mentigen Hill: The only spot that can be reached by foot or motorbike taxi without having to rent a jeep.
Additional Tips:
The temperature in Bromo is very cold (can reach 5°C), so make sure you wear warm clothes, a thick jacket, gloves and a beanie.
Generally, tourists rent hardtop jeeps so they can move from the sunrise spot to the Bromo crater and savanna safely.

Mount Bromo Crater is an active volcanic crater located within the Tengger caldera, East Java. This crater has a diameter of around 800 meters (north-south) and 600 meters (east-west), surrounded by a sea of sand covering an area of 10 square kilometers.

Location: Located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area, across the districts of Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang and Malang.
Activities: This is an active volcano that continues to emit sulfuric smoke. Under normal conditions, visitors can reach the crater rim by climbing around 250 steps.
Cultural Significance: The name comes from the Javanese pronunciation of "Brahma" (creator god in Hinduism). On the rim of the crater there is a Ganesha statue which is sacred by Tengger Hindus.

The Bromo Sand Sea or Sea of Sand is an ancient caldera area covering an area of ±5,250 to 6,290 hectares in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, East Java. Located at an altitude of around 2,100 meters above sea level, this stretch of volcanic sand is the only conservation area in Indonesia that has a sand sea phenomenon.

Origin: Formed by the powerful eruption of ancient Mount Tengger thousands of years ago, which then gave rise to several new volcanic cones in it, including Mount Bromo.
Nickname: Known in Javanese as Segara Wedi and some areas of the field are often nicknamed "Whispering Sands".
Cultural & Tourism Function: In the middle of a sea of sand stands Pura Luhur Poten, which is the center of worship for the Tengger tribe and the location where the annual Yadnya Kasada ceremony is held. This area is also one of the main tourist jeep routes to Bromo peak.
Teletubbies Bromo
This area is called "Teletubbies Hill" because the shape of the hills is wavy, rounded and layered, very similar to the grassland landscape in the popular children's television series "Teletubbies".
The original name of this valley is Jemplang Valley, which is the main route south of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area.
